This is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor, by Adam Kay
Probably a great read, but this recommendation is specifically for the audio version. Narrated by the author, you get the crisp British delivery of these tales that run the spectrum from hilarious to heartbreaking.

I’m linking to Amazon’s listing for this book, but I really recommend listening to the audio version — I bought this via Audible and it’s been a great addition to my usual podcast fare. It’s presented as a series of diary entries from a junior doctor with the British National Health Service, his experiences in “Obs and Gyny” as he calls it. The author’s voice is great and he delivers his stories so well, there are some that are just hysterical and some that are disgusting and some that are heart-rendingly sad. Really entertaining, and an eye-opening look into the NHS system.
